Damn. That's why you need to own your space. Phil could try a new location, but he is getting up there. Either way, it had a nice run.

    • Terrapin Crossroads was a destination place, not just to see Phil or various Grateful Dead offshoots, but for a variety of other fantastic musicians from that area and afar. You could see musicians perform outdoors on a Sunday afternoon, for free in the bar/dining area or in the Grate Room that held 300 people and had a superb Meyers Sound system.

I wonder if the city of San Rafael (and SFO in general) ever did an economic impact study of TXR and the Grateful Dead. There were quite a few times that I’d fly up there, rent a car and stay 3 or 4 hotel nights just to catch some $50 - $90 shows at TXR, Sweetwater and other venues in SFO. Even without TXR; visit Marin County if you’re in the area. It’s really a beautiful place.

Jonah Hill? Give him 500mics and see if he still wants the role. Or can remember his lines.

Jerome is rolling in his grave. Its the absolute last thing he would have wanted. #JustStop

        • No snowbird deadheads on here with an extra $10K layin' around for a damned-sand-gets-into-everything 4-day frolic with that good ol'grateful dead-like band? I talked with a woman at the NYE gig last night whose krewe is headed to Cancun for the shows. Before I could intervene, she asked my wife if we were going (my fault for peppering our sets with a dozen Dead tunes)... my wife was genial, but asked in all serious if Jerry was gonna make it. She has very diverse musical tastes now, but she never wanted to revisit a storied era and attend any of the Furthur/Kimock/JRAD/DSO that my pals and I went to. Maybe Bobby people see it differently.

          • Last night I partied in a Fort Collins snowstorm. It has been 50 years since I met Jerry Garcia at Lion's Share, December 72. Last night, met Boots Jaffee at Switchman Sleepin' , Cowboys Dead NYE Show featuring Boots on harp, and soulful Peaches Embry. It was a tour de force into 22 and I crashed around 3am. Boots is Odetta's son and road with The Dead for years doing their pyrotechnic. Google him. A character. He liked my story and we swapped memories like the two old coots we are. He also was Merle Saunders tour manager. Merle is a favorite of mine too. When Jerry passed...Enough y'all. Hope to meet some more of you Threadheads come this Spring!

I'm hearing that thousands of deadheads are canceling their trips to "play in the sand" because they're afraid of being quarantined in Mexico and not allowed to get back home afterwards.

                Bill Kreutzmann is skipping it.

Do the packages include fatty burritos in the parking lot?

Now I’m drifting back to the kind grilled cheese sandwiches in the campgrounds at the 2003 String Cheese fest in Hayfork, CA when the temp’s hit 113 and Hep A was running rampant through the jam band community. It genuinely felt worrisome back then, but it was a simpler time.

It's Mexico. Burritos are not really a thing here, nor are "parking lots."

Tom Hamilton, the bass player for Aerosmith? He's the ghost of Jerry now? Boy, sure wish I'd spent $10 grand on that.

HA!!!! No, this is a different Tom Hamilton --- from JRAD, Billy & The Kids, Ghost Light, etc. No relation as far as i can tell. I still wouldn't go either , but it's not the Aerosmith bass player....

                            • John Kadlelicek, Steve Kimock, Jimmy Herring, Scott Law, Stu Allen, Barry Sless, etc, etc. That bench is pretty deep, but the oligarch/sandals class may only know a couple of the names on that list. But sure, JRAD. Tom can play, but more importantly can take a serious singing load off Bob, so I get it.

on a slimly-related side-bar, I’m wondering if GPJ’s re-scheduled Sweetwater show is on the good side of 50% right about now.
