I hate to say it, but if Warren Haynes and/or John Kadlecik is chosen to play lead guitar, that would completely and resoundingly extinguish any desire I have to want to attend, although it's hard to imagine not being there, as the music of the Grateful Dead is literally the soundtrack of my life.
Steve Kimmock, Jimmy Herring, John Scofield, Anders Osborne, Carlos Santana, Trey Anistasio, Nels Cline, just about ANYONE else, but please leave Warren and JK out of it so I can actually Enjoy The Ride one last time...

(of course this is all academic for me personally, as I fully assume that Warren Haynes and/or John Kadelieck will be playing lead guitar for at least the GD portion of the show, which would completely kill any desire I had to actually attend, although I would be thrilled to be wrong about this)

Originally posted by MormonMatthew View PostYeah, if what I am imagining turns out to be correct, it would likely be some weekend in July or August, which gives over 8 months for all of the necessary details to be worked out; It makes sense to me, held at "home" in the Bay Area (Shoreline is HUGE, with room for the throngs of Deadheads who would surely fly in from all over the country) with a mammoth potential payday for Bob, Phil, Mickey & Bill, assuming the tickets would run in the $50-$150 range.

Originally posted by MormonMatthew View PostI would be shocked if the band doesn't do it's own, independent celebration comprised of a 2 (or even 3) show weekend at Shoreline featuring a full day of live music with all of the various solo projects (Phil & Friends, Ratdog, Rhythm Devils, etc.) followed by a nightly "Grateful Dead" reunion jam, which would be a draw for Deadheads all around the country, and a fitting way to showcase 50 years of the unique, improvisational music style that the Grateful Dead pioneered, and on some nights, perfected.

And the Lock'n deal was done long ago, I posted about it months ago.
I for one would dislike Hornsby, warren,Scofield, Kimock, anders in the band. I loveJk and would be happy with one of the guys that nails Jerry. Dave A Bear, Barry Sless, Stu Allen, that I can hang with. Hornsby would mean him in the spotlight, his songs and he only plays piano, not a full keyboard array.( and accordion too, but that brings up a whole nother set of problems.)
I would love if Russo played and then the rythmn devils did their thing. Russo kills me.

(and as far as what weekend they will choose to hold the celebration, I can obviously see them not wanting to compete with one of the major annual music festivals---Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, High Sierra, etc.---but as far as one of the many minor festivals held each year in smaller market areas, I just don't think that would factor into the equation; This is going to be a HUGE deal for tens of thousands of Deadheads, most of whom are now firmly middle class and middle-aged and who can afford to fly to San Francisco for a nostalgic musical weekend)
