I’d prefer it was Billy for one more show. I hope you’re right.

So last year I read both Phil's ("Searching for the Sound") and Billy K's ("Deal") autobiographies. While both were interesting and different, I found Phil's book a very "sanitized" version of the Dead's history while Billy laid it all out, warts and all. Billy told about the time, early on, when Phil approached Jerry about kicking Weir and Pigpen out of the band and named some replacements - Jerry wanted nothing to do with it. Anyway, looking forward to seeing Billy at The Saenger with Molly Tuttle, and hopefully some John K. Would expect JF will be the last show with Billy and Dead Co. since they all signed the announcement letter "See You at Jazz Fest".......

I read wild ass Internet speculation(the only kind) is that Phil was going to join them at Barton Hall and Bill blew up over that idea (the two are not the best of buds).

No Phil has always been a big problem for me and Dead & Co. As good a bass player as Oteil is, his sound and approach don't work for me with that music.

I don't see any way Phil is traveling for such things.

Or maybe instead playing with Billy at The Saenger. I'm thinking neither.

Jay Lane will be there for the drums no doubt 2 drummers. Just saying that’s a heck of a coincidence.

Must have been a hell of a fight - they only had 30 shows to go and then you go adios. Seems after nearly 60 years the 2 of them could have made it that long with all the work that goes into the engine that is a Dead tour. Sad that after Jerry left us that the money grab went into high gear - Bobby Vegas can't be far off now.

I assumed the “artistic” differences were similar to what i heard Emory Gordy describe talking about being part of the Elvis live show on the Buddy & Jim show on SXM. You know when you’ve had enough- and I’ll let the peanut gallery discuss what Bill had enough of.
