          • had spent a bit too much time readin' about the ravages of this damn covid virus yesterday...
decided to clear the head by jumpin' in the convertible for a sunset drive as the weather was perfect...
put the top down and tuned into wmnf out of tampa... the very 1st tune that came on was an all time classic...

took to searchin' for another shot of that spark of joy a short while ago...
was ready to remind the soul how thrilled it was for a bit last nite...
the head and shoulders began to groove again,.. chair dancin'...
then started to read a bit... damn it,.. so pained to read this...

"REST IN PEACE, MANU DIBANGO. He passed-away as a result of Coronavirus. He was the first Internationally-known star to die from the disease."

"Manu DiBango was a gift to the world and especially to Black Americans as his adaptation of our Jazz, Soul, Funk, Rhythm & Blues and African Rhythms reminded us that we all come from the same people. As a baby this was my favorite song. [Family has the video] This track and Hugh Masakela's Grazing in the Grass that preceded it on Jazz & Soul Music charts are the quintessential Afro-Jazz pieces. When you grow up with this music I image that I could see and hear the rhythms of Africa. COVID-19 has stolen another of our World cultural treasures in Manu DiBango. Perhaps Manu & Hugh Masakela and Fela are having an incredible jam session in the heavens. Rest In Power our African Kings."

            rest in peace soul king...

edit... now jammin' with the incomparable, beautiful soul that is bill withers

                • I know the US are hit hard by this Covid-19-Virus. But could you please let go this 'America first'-shit now? Yesterday a delivery of masks for the French was snapped away on the tarmac by offering a price three times higher then negotiated and today a delivery for our Berlin police officers was redirected in the last second to the US. We know you suffer hard over there and it is still getting worse. But if you kindly ask, we will surely give you every support we can dispense. Finally we're allies, aren't we?

I dedicate two songs to you this evening: First: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocIT67BAL4k even if i am no hardcore fan at all, but i think it describes the situation we're in adequate.

And second: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9BfvPjsXXw from my favourite band, i think this maybe describes the feeling of the quarantine the best.

Anyway, i wish you all the best. Love, Peace and Happiness in the words of Jimi Hendrix. Stay safe, stay healthy and keep on faith. Mankind has faced more evil things than this and made it through. Let's stay together.

                  Sincerely, Murphy from Bavaria

Thanks. That was sweet. Nice Bill Withers and Tom Petty mentions, too.

But, on the other hand: stay save. Stand together by keeping distance.

And Congratulations to the birthday of one of the most wonderful, most versatile countries in the world. Have fun!

Thanks Murph, but I don't feel like celebrating America's Birthday today. I'm ashamed of my country, our leader and a good portion of our population. No grilling, no partying, no fireworks. Just another day for me. Hopefully next year.
