For the most part it was classic raucous Q careening happily all over the rock and roll backroads and miraculously never wrecking, but some of it was also quite beautiful. Al Anderson's should-have-been -a big -hit for somebody ballad "A Better Word For Love" and Terry Adams' down tempo arrangement of the Everly's "Bye-Bye Love", which guest percussionist Don T Allen described as "slower than molasses going uphill", momentarily turned proceedings into a memorable slow dance at the prom. Objectively accessing the show and comparing this lineup against the current one, I have to confess that the new Q is indeed equal and only slightly different to the one in this great broadcast.Comment

This old thread hasn't been activated lately because there hasn't been much Q (the band) news since things changed a bit, but that changes as founding member Joey Spampinato gets a relatively star studded and well deserved tribute and hopefully some help with his health funds. Joey ranks in the very top tier of bass players and his singing and songwriting are every bit as impressive as Bonnie Raitt proclaims them to be: https://disciplesofsound.blogspot.co...Sk5UTTnyydai10Comment

Finally got my copy and it was worth the wait! Fans of Los Lobos, Keith Richards, Deer Tick, The Minus 5, Robbie Fulks and the everlovin' Bonnie Raitt take notice.Comment

I saw the Q two weeks ago, believe it was their third show since shutdown. Excellent show as always-- They're doing a real mix of material including pre-Al stuff, the best from the recent albums, and all the classics. "Get a Grip" from Scraps has become Scott's big showpiece on guitar and he really blew it open. Surprise covers are back too...They had the Whole Wheat Horns so a great version of "The Stripper" ensued. You could tell it meant a lot to them to be back onstage, so a memorable show all around.

The Panic show could have been the last time. They used to play Jimmy’s during Fest and have played Tips, both locations. They have done West Coast gigs recently. I don’t know what is keeping them from NOLAComment

Not a bad Q article that includes one of those "ten best albums lists". What do some of you Q Tips think of it?

He came out on fire. I didn’t keep a set list but I know he went right into Little Bit of Bad for the second tune and then Riding in My Car. Highlights too many to mention, including getting to meet him briefly afterwards. Played a new tune that I fully expect to be a hit. It Came from the South, 12 Bar Blues, Get Rhythm, Comes to Me Naturally were among the other highlights, as well as a stirring cover of Etta James’s Change is Gonna Do Me Good.
Almost two hours straight with no break. Every song felt like a gem. What an incredible and unexpected gift.👍 1Comment
