It was fantastic. He was in great voice and spirits and played his signature guitar work passionately throughout. He was gracious and also a commanding presence, albeit much less big physically, which I gather is a good and healthy development. The band was excellent. Really an A+ experience on all accounts.

He came out on fire. I didn’t keep a set list but I know he went right into Little Bit of Bad for the second tune and then Riding in My Car. Highlights too many to mention, including getting to meet him briefly afterwards. Played a new tune that I fully expect to be a hit. It Came from the South, 12 Bar Blues, Get Rhythm, Comes to Me Naturally were among the other highlights, as well as a stirring cover of Etta James’s Change is Gonna Do Me Good.

Almost two hours straight with no break. Every song felt like a gem. What an incredible and unexpected gift.

Sounds great. Envious. Consider yourself very lucky. Al doesn't really tour, just does an occasional show near his home occasionally. When Al left the Q and touring, he quit drinking and took on a healthier lifestyle which has done him good. Would love to hear that new tune.

I haven't posted here for a while because I fear age shaming punk Pole wannabes and cyber bullying members of The Church of The Latter Day Morrison, but for the Q, I venture back to this once glorious Bored with news that the New Rhythm and Blues Quartet (though no longer new, not really rhythm and blues and frequently larger than a foursome) do indeed have not only a new studio recording and tour but spring tour dates with our beloved Bonnie Raitt. Go see this band even if it costs you your job and breaks up your family. It will be worth it. Kempers the fellow I introduced you to at the Patry a few years back that I said was a big NRBQ fan, has now played the far Q two weeks in a row on his show Off The Record, so you 2 certainly do have something in common.

Not that I wouldn't want to see them open for her (as she'll probably play The Saenger) but I'd really rather see them at Tip's, that new Toulouse Theatre or even better The Maple Leaf. Yeah I'm dreamin' too.
