+100 %!! There is a band here in Austin called the Drakes that play free every Wednesday at the Saxon Pub that is kind of "Q"esque. Worth a listen if you're in town.

Thanks for the tip, will try and check them out. I was in Austin 5 times last year but I always seem to come home on Wed after catching Whitney Rose and/or James McMurtry At The Continental on Tues nights. Will be back again for the Lonestar Roundup right before Jazz Fest.

I was just telling a bandmate about the Midwest Creole Ensemble after he asked about Flat Fo0t Flewzy (I think hoping I'll work out that opening riff! We already play passable versions of Wild Weekend and Ain't No Free). I guess I'll need to add Wednesdays to my always-go-Tuesdays David Grissom Saxon habit. After hearing that Lucy's won't be doing their cavalcade of Americana this year during SXSW, we'll be on the hunt for non-credentialed activities. Sam's Town Point put on a great day of music headlined by Shinyribs last year, and I hope I can catch Rose Sinclair with a freed-up schedule. Here's hoping "Yard Dog" show repeats at the ABGB. And we can take this to an Austin thread so that Kemp doesn't cry foul lol.
