It ain't really a "gig" gig, but it is a chance to play - maybe even to far-flung friends and Fest acquaintances. We're grateful to be asked to play what will pass for Fat Tuesday in town again this year. This is my NOLA-centric project, the Big Chiefs (named with all due respect), and we'll be doing some lesser-known Meters tunes, along with the usual suspects. All of the guys have been to Fest, a couple have been to the Patry, and it'll be a hoot to play for y'all.
There's usually a second-line led by the folks from our stalwart blues bar, The Torch Club, and Elements Brass Band, one of our brass bands. It'll be abbreviated, of course : no parade, no open bar, but you can stream us starting at 7 pm pacific time. The Elements Brass Band will be streaming Thursday night. The other Sacramento brass band, City of Trees has connections to the Frenchmen brass scene and we've caught them at both rooms at Bamboulas during Jazzfest.
Looking forward to playing the Broadside this Sunday from 2 - 4. We will be trio, Ken, myself and Tom Marron on fiddle/harp. It will be our first gig in a while...
The weather should be warmer, it is a Free Show, and our good buddy Shaggy will be onsite with his Food Truck. Come on out!

Thanks for coming out! It wasn't quite as sunny a day as Monday so I hope you were warm enough. Considering we hadn't played or even been together since our last gig last March, it was nice to see we hadn't forgotten everything.
What a great venue! The Lagniappe in the Times Picayune, which is in the Thursday edition now, had a cool cover story on the Broadside yesterday.
