I am with you.

But I had to do some Zoom meetings during the lengthy pandemic lockdowns we had.
As long as someone sent me the missing link, I could get in to them..

Tweets, Tick Tock, Instagram, Facebook, Spotify etc. Are all foreign to me, and I will keep buying CDs until they stop making them.
With CDs I only purchase from stores like LMF or at bands own stores at Gigs, so I hope that the acts get money out of it'

You Tube is my only real delve into anything, which is probably like 20/20 with QAnon.

Many years ago I was on the road a lot and through contacts/sponsors we got some of the earliest versions of portable CD players and good small portable speakers, like Bose which worked very well in a hotel room . But that was the end of my foray in to cutting edge stuff.
Although we did have mobile phones rented for us sometimes, when they were mainly only a rich mans toy early on.

I also will not go to any store that forces you to swipe your own goods or whatever you have to do at those machines at the checkout.
I take my money elsewhere.

And, yeah, I used to travel a lot for work, too, and always took a Discman and some little speakers and some CDs. Hotel rooms can be so boring.

I was on a flight at least five years ago and a gal next to me was astonished I still owned a functional Discman and was using it to listen to music. While I do use my phone to connect to Spotify, I don't store music on it. It does come with me now on trips with a BlueTooth speaker so at least I have come that far. No more lugging a bunch of CDs.

Just went to the LMF to get the latest TTB CD and saw them setting up for Satchmo Fest. Have a good one those that go!!!

I remain resolutely old school. I still enjoy holding something in my hand, making artwork, crediting the musicians, sending music to friends. I have been anal about this stuff going back to religiously labeling cassette tapes. I realize the world has passed me by but I am OK with it. It still works for me. You are right, though, many people don't even have a CD player or a drive to read them. How do you share music with people...send them a playlist?

I stream some things and, with guilt in my heart, use Spotify to make the equivalent of mix tapes and CDs which I was renown for doing among my friends and family back in the daze. Still burn a new song sampler CD for my sisters every Christmas. Still buy Cds and some vinyl. A good time for me is to put five Cds in my Technics Carousel five disc player, hit full random spiral play , put some craft beers in the cooler, fire up the grill and crank up the outside speakers. In fact, I will be happily doing so soon. I am not now nor have I ever been a Tweeter, never tiked, never tocked, never Instagrammed. Facebook is enough time wasted for me. Todays Carousel Load: Stones El Mocambo, New TTB, Samantha Fish Faster, NRBQ Dragnet, and one to be decided. Suggestions?

I'm close behind. Instead of buying CDs I give them away. I put a few in those Little Free Libraries around town. I just don't have the space anymore. I have kept all of the jazz, blues, nola and reggae ones though. The rest I'm right with ya.

As I said I still send friends CDs at X-mas, that's about it. I make nola, country or roots Best Of Whatever Year and rare live CDs every December to send off. Besides that I'm all digital.

I gave up on making DVDs and CDs years ago unless I'm making them for friends although now many people I know do not even have CD players anymore. I still put some end of year mix or live CDs in X-mas cards for friends each year. The times they really are a changin'.

I bought the AVS suite of software and use its Audio Converter, mainly to turn FLAC to WAV. (FLACs are playable now days by most players but I prefer WAVs and CDs for the car where I listen to a lot of music just to be sure.) It can also turn an MP4 into a WAV. Before I got a Smart TV, I would download webcasts and YouTube videos and make DVDs so I could watch them on my old school big screen with the good sound system. With YouTube and the Internet available on the Smart TV, I don't have to do that anymore, though I still do sometimes. (Jackson Browne put out a series of excellent videos from his studio during the pandemic and I collected them and made a nice DVD and CD out of them... Things like that.) I like the flexibility of being able to watch a DVD in more than one place and not be dependent on an internet connection. And I like to be able to share them. What I never have been able to figure out is how to chapter DVDs. Not essential as you can fast forward but it would be nice.

Long ago I realized it is as much the act of doing it as a collector. I have tons of music I have downloaded and burnt to CD I may or may not have ever listened to again. It is as much the exercise I find enjoyable. A buddy of mine was one asked if he really was going to listen to the huge pile of Grateful Dead show CDs he had. He said, "I donno. But I like knowing I could if I wanted to." Of course streaming has kinda changed all that but much of the music I've gathered has been live shows that aren't on the likes of Spotify.

I am a late convert to streaming. The amount of stuff available is pretty amazing.

At least most of their songs are long so it's not that hard to chop it up into individual songs. I've done that for some live concerts over the years and made CDs for friends but is tedious and sometimes a lot of work.

How'd you get that WAV of the 2nd night, you just recorded it off the Nugs feed?

You'll laugh but I've never even used or have seen a smart tv. But I'm not much of a TV watcher anyway. My setup works fine for my needs.

The TTB tapers, edtyre in particular, are doing a good job these days. But I am kind of a soundboard zealot and am mad at myself for not getting both nights captured. It is a lot of work to turn a huge WAV into a tracked CD but I am kind of anal about it knowing the result will be something I can listen to many times as well as being able to share it with friends.

For years I have had a laptop connected to my TV with a wireless mouse and of course the TV hooked into my stereo. That is pretty much how I watch TV unless something is on the local channels like The Saints games. Works like a charm.

Well, I joined Nugs in hopes of seeing the Red Rocks shows at a time that was convenient and they are now off the site. I was also disappointed Nugs does not have a workable Smart TV app. Yeah, you could find it and sign in through the Internet browser but that is a pain in the ass using a remote. Seems silly to only be able to watch their video content on a phone...you need a Smart TV app in this day and age.

I will be honest....I was hoping to use Total Recorder to capture the audio being it is the only soundboard level recordings from this tour, a true highpoint for the band. (And I'll admit, I did spend a lot of time trying to download the video but never succeeded.) Sadly, I only got a WAV of the 2nd night and really wish I had gotten the first night with so many of the new songs, as well.

Nugs got my $12.99 but I won't be keeping it. And I have been buying each release from the Music Factory so I don't feel too bad about being a bootlegger. It is for personal use, not profit.

PS Just got my new Downbeat magazine which has an excellent interview with Derek.

They hit the jack pot finding that guy. Kofi Burbridge's shoes are big to fill but Gabe has brought a lot to the band. He is a killer keyboard player, especially on the organ, and brings another singing voice that blends well as well as another quality songwriter. The keyboard spot is an important component of the Tedeschi Trucks Band and this dude is outstanding.

I couldn't agree more. I really noticed when I saw them at the Saenger earlier this year. He has a song or two on these new albums.

One thing I find interesting is they let him sing a song here and there but Alecia Chakour, who just put a new album out last year never gets to sing an entire song.
