I don't know if there is some sort of requirement that a band not appear in the area before Jazz Fest or not. I seem to recall Bill Graham would control things in that way. I would think Jazz Fest is different. It is not like any one act, particularly at the level of TTB, would influence sales overall that much. The Rolling Stones, yeah... But it may be an industry practice. You generally don't see acts booked for the Fest do a show earlier in the year or shortly thereafter.

The two Saenger shows last year were outstanding and I am sad they are not happening this year, though my pocketbook is relieved. I would have enjoyed a deep dive into the "I Am The Moon" material they have not done here yet. And they do so well in the vaudeville theaters Derek has said he prefers. The crowd response last year was amazing. They had the whole place in the palm of their hand as it finally seemed EVERYONE there was on board. But I am taking it as a hopeful sign they are coming here on Sunday the 30th after being in Birmingham the night before. I enjoy seeing them out on the grass, too.

I heard the corollary last year, true or not, that they weren't booked because they did two nights in January at the Saenger.

Phenomenal show at The Greek in Los Angeles a few months ago. Even better than Jazz Fest performances. Entire band on

I have no doubt they'll be at fest this year with the new records having been dropped. I'm just wondering where to place my vacation. I always hit fest 2nd weekend, but this kinda makes me think they'll play first Sunday.

Little Rock is on a Friday, Birmingham is on a Saturday so it does seem they could drive on to NOLA for the Sunday, the 30th. And I heard last year that their Saenger dates in January may have precluded them from being booked for Jazz Fest. They have done two nights there regularly in January so so far not seeing that get booked seems relevant to me, as well. They have been consistent with their early year multi-night bookings in Chicago and D.C. in recent years, with NOLA usually getting a couple of shows, as well.

So with those dates revealed, you think it's more likely that they'd be playing 1st weekend Sunday or sometime 2nd weekend?

Something popped on my phone's screen regarding a Saenger date in late January but I lost it. It was most likely from the touts who try and sell tickets before they are available. No official announcement from the band yet.

Sorted. Quick phone call and I managed to knock some heads together. Strike is off. My pleasure.

I saw him at Charley Crockett the other night. He didn't offer, and I am far too polite to ask. I'll just have to brave the night bus.
