Would be nice. The Dallas area has so many really great blues guitarists, these two included, but for some reason, none of them (except occasionally Anson Funderburgh) ever seem to play Jazzfest.

How about a guy from Hollygrove who has one of the biggest albums of the year?

I'm starting to hear whispers of a Billy & the Boingers reunion tour.

True. You can add Larry Lampkin, Bnois King and E.J. Matthews to the list of fine blues candidates from Dallas.

Justin Beaver would bring in some fresh new fans to Fest, and is a hell of a performer

Yea, Ernest Ranglin is the real long shot dream. I don't think he plays much in the USA anymore, maybe at that big N. California reggae fest? I wonder how old he is now...
I had the pleasure of seeing him with Monty Alexander at a small NYC club several years ago.... one of the best shows from a purely musical standpoint that i have EVER seen. How could anybody be SO funky yet SO relaxed? Made me think of how Jimi Hendrix would have sounded if he lived into his 70s, was all mellow & had nothing left to prove....

King Sunny Ade... hell yea. haven't seen any of those big, high energy African bands at JF in years... like OJ Ekemode, Commander Ebenezer Obey etc. I miss it....

Shiny Ribs would be perfect for JF too. If anybody can figure out what they're singing about, feel free to explain... "Bolshevik Sugarcane"??? Sounds like Cuba, but none of the other lyrics have anything to do with that. Maybe just pure nonsense like "Ooh Poo Pa Doo" or "Don'tcha Just Know It"? Which is a perfect N.O. R&B concept....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0NhRnR2ZsU
