  • The concert venue reimagined!

Seriously, might be enough to get me to go back to Vegas. (A place I abhor)
A new, state-of-the-art concert venue going up in Las Vegas known as the MSG Sphere at The Venetian is shaping up to be a technological marvel.

I'm trying to visualize a three and a half acre video screen.

Ill tell ya, with what I saw at Burningman and some of the lighting effects used today, that will be so amazing I cant even begin to tell ya. The lighting tech has blown way up. I saw stuff that waswas even possible 2 years ago.
imagine some of the heavy lighting guys there. Cheese? Panic? DMB? Those guys videos are way out front now, imagine on that screen?

1 acre = 43,560 sq. ft., x 3.5 = 152,460 sq. ft., sqrt(152,460) = ~ 390.5 ft, so a square whose sides are longer than a football field including end-zones, curved spherically. Pretty dang big, wonder how many pixels....

Sounds like it's designed more for residencies than the one off. Still, Santana and the Who had recent residencies in Vegas.

Unless it actually improves sound quality, seems like too much tech to me. Keep it simple, let the music speak for itself

Look at the Fremont Street Experience, when it first came out there was nothing like it.

WTF is wrong with Vegas? We spent a week there in October. The rugged beauty of the desert in Southern Nevada is quite striking, and we were never unable to find something to do while we were there.

And now I've gotta rethink the whole "abhors Vegas" thing. Thanks, not really Quint.

                        But thatís just me.

Iím a claustrophobic germaphobe who hates anything over-hyped. Vegas isnít for me.

I do love sports wagering though. But I can do that whenever my phone picks up a cell tower in Camden.

Ive had some interesting stuff happen in Vegas,. Broke my leg at a hotel pool in july 26,1969. Changed my life incredibly. No longer a jock (I wasn't much of one anyway preferring solo sports over team, contact sports). I started reading and music became THE over riding presence. I was laid up essentially for 2 years. Couple that with first lots of stuff in 69 and everything went kablooey.

Then, at a Dead show in 82 at the Aladdin, I was walking out of the venue into the casino and I flashed on everyone in the casino. It was as if I could see insides the soul of everyone there. Nobody was having fun. It looked like fun, with all the chasing lights and it sounded like fun with the bells and whistles, but the people weren't having any fun. After that I never gambled. Or much anyway. 20 bucks tops and Ive got to be pretty bored to gamble.
