Nice. It begs the question...who is still performing that played the original. The Who, Santana and Arlo come to mind.

I'm guessing they'll book at least one of the Dead's splinter bands.

So there are actually two events in upstate NY that weekend, the other being held at the site of the original festival in Bethel, NY, now referred to as Bethel Woods. There are precious few hotels in this region and prices are already sky high, fwiw.

Update: Woodstock Will Return as a Three-Day Festival This Summer For its 50th Anniversary: The event will be at the original playing site and feature a mix of performances

Yep. Also CSN&Y are still around, although splintered.

We didn't need no steenkin' hotels in 1969! We slept on the ground, & it was fun!
Not really interested in this one.... original can't be reproduced

Most of the guys on Canned Heat are dead too. There might be a band by that name with one (or 2?) originals
"The Family Stone" still plays & they're great. Sly is a crackhead, barely sane anymore, not playing
Mark Naftalin (Butterfield pianist) & his wife inherited her parents house in Connecticut, where they now live. He plays occasionally & is terrific, but his monthly blues jam has lost its venue in Westport. He DJs a great blues show one Wednesday a month on WPKN. Check out their website
                  Melanie is still excellent!
Sebastian sat in with Jim Kweskin Jug Band reunion (whole set!) a few years ago in NYC & it was fabulous

I think that all Serious Music Lovers agree that the REAL magic of Woodstock actually happened back in the unforgettable, legendary summer of '94---Del Amitri, Salt N' Pepa, Blind Melon, Huffamoose...

Really takes me back, I just wish I had a few cold Zima's about now.

Zero interest in seeing any of the ones still living except –John Fogerty and Santana but I've seen them both many times already. The Dead are long gone BTW.
