    Let's talk about fest....

So other than what's happening on second Thursday, what sets are you most excited for? Just want to talk and read about something else lol.....ps when will the cubes be out? I can't remember. I'm pretty geeked about Kermit's tribute to Louis, DMB (my fav and I don't care what y'all think lol!), Seger, Stapleton (wahooo!!!), Fogherty, Shorty, Ani DiFranco, VOW, Little Feat, the Rads…..it's endless!!!!!!

One of his flight instructor's students was an attorney in Little Rock and he had a deposition so he wasn't going to be able to ride down with this friends and was looking for a way to fly. I said why yes I would! And on Thursday before, I caught a ride on the plane and flew into the Lakefront Airport. I stayed in a condo in the quarter with several friends from around the county that I met on this board and condo was offered by Rossvegas. AFter the first day of fest, as I walked out wondering how to get back to the quarter(as I'd always had my car before), I heard $5 to the quarter! I said yes to that man who became my friend, Dan, the taxi man, except no taxi for Dan he drove his son's Beemer. He was a retired teacher who had been displaced to Houston by the storm and was in town to make some cash. I hooked him up with my friends who needed rides and he was our go to for many years. He told me through our tips that first year, our small group helped him buy furniture for his new home in Houston. He drove for us until he reached the age of 80something and quit driving. I called that the year I was a jazzfest princess since I flew to fest in a private plane, rode around in a BMW and stayed a block from LMF!
And we were so glad you did! Dan, and later his twin brother Don, were good folks that many of us formed long term relationships with. RIP Dan. We could no longer contact Don as of last year's Fest. I hope he is well wherever he may be.

I'll be easy to find on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm running the show at the Orpheum Juke (the SW corner of Main and Beale).

Ok, I'll play. Which festival did you have in mind, Fred?

I'm so looking forward to hearing Aaron's voice close out the fest one more time, as the setting sun drops behind the bleachers.

This is insane. I need a doctor not a lawyer !! I'm looking at first Sunday and thinking this is worthy of an entire festival. There's a minimum of 15 acts I would really like to see!!! Help!!!!!

Just so pumped that we randomly chose 2nd weekend this year, so much to choose from! Friends, fun, food and music will all be the order of business!

Had to look up the Chouval Bwa on Jordan's recommendation, can't wait! After watching several vids I couldn't figure out where I had heard that beat before but then my inner 12yr old remembered........This guy should be in the Chouval's percussion section

We settled. I hopped on a plane that afternoon, and was at JF the next morning when the gates opened.
I feel you kyfester!! of course my case WILL settle, but likely do so only after i miss most of fest preparing for trial. isn't it always the way?
I was so happy for jonnygospeltent's retirement because: 2016: took deposition Wednesday between weekends in utah, flew to Houston that night, caught 7am to NO to see TTB on Thursday (so actual success that year); 2017, missed two days (th=fri second weekend, my longest consecutive miss since 1994 when i was in law school out of state) AGAIN for deps in Utah; 2018, left at 3pm first two days for daughter function at school that simply could NOT be missed and still have her call me dad (missing Lucinda with Charles Lloyd for that, which turned out to be one of my top five fave cds from last year when it eventually came out).
So I'm looking forward to a jonnygospeltent retirement of my own one day, when all i have to worry about is the weather and whether quint will let me bring a chair.
