  • Let's talk Music, Shall We?

Let's share our answers to these three questions.

    1. Which group you've never heard live before, or never heard of until the Cubes came out, are you most looking forward to hearing?

    2. Which non-BNA are you most looking forward to hearing again?

    3. Which BNA, if any, are you most looking forward to?

My answers: 1. Mdou Moctar. 2. Rance Allen. 3. Van Morrison.

    OK, one more question:

    4. Which New Orleans performer are you most looking forward to hearing?

I'm not good at picking one, and since I'm going all 8 days...

        1) Lulu & Broadsides & Jupiter & Okwess - honorable mention for Chouval Bwa - love that carousel
        2) Maggie Koerner & Mia Borders - they rarely tour, Carsie Blanton would be on the list, but I saw her last week
        3) Gary Clark Jr, Shirley Ceasar,
        4) Andrew Duhon, Dave Jordan & NIA - seems like a good way to squeeze in two more that I'm really excited for

See, there ya go. Thread's out of control already, the rules, such as they are, have been breached. :-)

            I'll play

            1) The Electrifying Crown Seekers - mean to catch them every year, but never quite made it . This is the year
            2) Creole String Beans - love that swamp pop sound
            3) John Fogerty - all those classic songs
            4) Delfeayo Marsalis & Uptown Jazz Orchestra - another that I have inexplicably missed previously

Of course, this list will change hourly until Fest starts!

It was an unduly oppressive rule

You didn't hear any of us raving about their two sets at Fest and subsequent tour last year?

                              1) The War and Treaty
                              2) Dr. Michael White
                              3) Sir Tom Jones
                              4) Helen Gillet (Both of her First Sunday sets are bad conflicts for me against two rare shows, so I'll probably be catching more of her at night.)
