"Nancy and I went to the Green River Music Festival a few weeks ago. Here is the article we wrote for Glide Magazine.

I'll put her photos against anyone's, anytime."
Nice job by Jordan and Nancy!

Two recent festivals that I attended and reported on for Glide Magazine had several former Jazz Fest performers in the lineups. BottleRock in Napa, CA and BeachLife in Redondo Beach, CA (beach community in Los Angeles). Both were fun, mostly outdoor and had vaccination or negative test proof requirements. BottleRock had about 40000 attendees daily and BeachLife about 9000.

2022 BIG EARS FESTIVAL COVID-19 POLICY

The health and safety of everyone who attends Big Ears is our number one priority. With the rise of COVID cases due to the Delta variant, we’re mandating that all attendees be fully vaccinated in order to participate in ticketed activities presented by Big Ears. In the coming months, we’ll describe the steps we intend to take to verify the vaccination status of audience members. As we continue to observe the situation, we reserve the right to institute other COVID-related safety measures in advance of the festival.

To be considered fully vaccinated for attendance at the 2022 Big Ears Festival, you must have received your second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer or Moderna) or a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) on or before Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

FarmAid is still on for September 25. They get to pick where they go each year. Connecticut is a good choice.

So far we've had some hits and misses with our music and music festivals this year.

Party in the Pods (Buckeye Lake outside Columbus, with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong)
High Sierra was cancelled - our biggest 2021 disappointment so far...
Fred the Festival (Goose, Goose spinoffs, Dawes, Dr Dog, Cory Wong, healthy Grateful Shred)
Two nights of Phish at their finest (Shoreline Soul Planet!) in Mountain View was fantastic
Umphrey's and George Porter last week both cancelled, understandably
Instead, some great music at TXR with Midnight North (go see them when you can!, Phil joined for a few songs), Stu Allen and Full Moonalice, Allman Betts Sunday and ALO on Labor Day.

Friday: Billy Strings at The Fox Oakland - we're excited for this show!
This Saturday: Sound Summit on Mt Tam with Lukas Nelson, Cha Wa, and others
September 18th: Dock of the Bay festival (inaugural) with Dumpstaphunk, Jackie Greene, Fantastic Negrito and others https://dockofbayfest.com/ We're taking the Ferry to a music festival - sounds fun!
Jazzfest weekend 1 and Stones cancelled - another bummer but looking at the situation now, seems like absolutely the right decision (will need to figure out what's going on with my late night Anders, moe., and Galactic tix. Preservation Hall anniversary show moved to May.)

We skipped Bottlerock, will skip Outside Lands (may try to find a day ticket when Khruangbin plays)

Hangtown a maybe. We'll see the smoke situation, etc. but hopefully should be mostly done by these dates.

This Saturday: Sound Summit on Mt Tam with Lukas Nelson, Cha Wa, and others

Lukas Nelson delivers musical nourishment as Sound Summit returns to Mt. Tamalpais

Billy Strings is a phenomenon - see him whenever you can (although LfLM highlights the Dead element of his shows in the Dead's backyard, that is a small element of what Billy brings to the table!)
