Definitely more probably would than just to get into JF. It would be an idiotic reason to get a vaccine though.

Idiots apparently need idiotic reasons, if illness, hospitalization or death isn’t enough.

A free beer, a free donut, a pound of crawfish, and an entry into the state vaccine lottery. We're trying all sorts of stupid stuff.

There is no such thing as an idiotic reason to get a vaccine. As far as I am concerned, anything that will get more people to get shots is a good thing.

Yeah, I'd think most musicians would get the vaccine (if they are able with medical concerns) just so they can feel better about getting out to play in front of a live audience... It's all about the music and the audience for so many.

Just keeping positive thoughts that Fest will go on as scheduled.

And I also don't see many people in this backward state getting vaxed just so they can go to the Jazz Fest.
With all this name calling in this thread I am beginning to believe that some of you are the kind of person to tell me not to eat that extra scoop of ice-cream because I am too fat already?

Not sure who you are calling “backward” in this state? Just don’t forget that New Orleans is in Louisiana.
And some of you also need to look at the stats as to who is not getting vaccinated in Louisiana and other states.
There is lots of talk about who is spreading what? Just the other day some heroes from Texas flew on a plan to Washington…posted a photo of their smiling faces with no mask. Now several of them have tested positive for Covid after meeting with America’s Vice-President. Now are they really sick or did they just test positive? I think some Yankee players have also tested positive but they showed no symptoms. So my question to myself is…If a vaccinated person can still contact Covid can they still spread it? Perhaps we will find out?
                  Stay safe…

Oh, I think it will go on as scheduled. Just look at Japan and the Olympics. They're Full Steam Ahead.

Jazz Fest is not going to make all these plans and arrangements with scheduling for a 2nd time, and not follow through. They have a little statement about the ticketholder assuming all risks, and that's going to be their fall back.

But I don't think those who want to attend the Fest have anything to really worry about. Other than perhaps catching Covid, and for some, it may still be worth it.

They had planned to re-test them with more accurate tests, but at least one of the legislators has reported some mild symptoms.

To answer your question. Yes, a fully vaccinated person can still contract the virus, can still spread the virus, can still get symptoms, can still require hospitalization, and can still die.

But the odds of that happening to them is VASTLY lower than for someone who is not vaccinated.

And the miniscule risk of serious complications from the vaccine are dwarfed by the risks of Covid itself.

There are a relatively small number of people with immune system or other conditions that may need to avoid the vaccine, but for everyone else, getting the vaccine is by far the better choice for their own health. And for the health of others.

                      • Dow Jones dropped over 800 points this morning due to new Covid concerns. Unemployment in Louisiana going to end in 12 days. My happy meter is heading South.

                        • In Orange County Florida, we are now back to January numbers. Back then, we averaged 523 cases per day. Yesterday, we had 517 cases. All were unvaccinated….just sayin’

                          • The governor of Florida has screwed up the Covid response since Day One when he allowed Spring Break last year. He appears to be a rising star for the right wing, a younger less senile Trump. Never forget his failures and stupidity.

The idea that you don't need to get a vaccine for a deadly virus that's killed over 600,00 Americans but then you change your mind so you can go to a music festival sounds kind of idiotic to me. But hey if that's what it takes.....
