Van the Man Stands Up Against Lockdowns with Eric. Time to save our bands, our music venues and our livelihoods....

Or, put another way, if the dimwits in the clubs in Nashville and other permissive cities would just stay the fuck home until the damned virus flamed-out with no nutrient-rich target zone to propagate without limit, the clubs could cautiously re-open. They’re going to have sporting events and shows (albeit outside) in Australia & New Zealand soon - and it never occurred to me that they would be the models of restraint. Consider me suitably put in my place. Hell, the British ministries are putting forth the idea that entertainment professionals and stagecraft folks - they might have meant all artistic types - seek gainful satisfying work in other careers... meaning that, like us in the US, there is no financial assistance ear-marked for the bars/venues/sound engineers/musicians coming any time soon. So, by all means, race to fill the venues - folks will probably come out it nearly intact, minus some acceptable losses. Van I can grasp. I’d heard he could be a cantankerous asshole. But Eric? He consistently reaches out to help seriously addicted drug users with their sometimes-successful rehabs. You’d think he’d be a little more philosophical about defying a policy that shows way more promise. Or that the song was one of unity with tamping the pandemic down so we could all celebrate later.

What exactly are they proposing? Cases are rising in many parts of America and in The UK. So they want clubs and concert halls to have shows? I know I wouldn't go to either one.

You're not going to face the facts about COVID until you or someone close to you gets it & dies... are you?

Because they have no beds to put them in. My friend's father was told the same thing 2 weeks ago. Sent home and told to take Tylenol. He returned to the ER by ambulance less than 48 hours later. He's been on a ventilator for almost a week.

Van is not the picture of health...
One would think that he would show some common sense and hope that he would protect his fans (mostly his age group), but I guess not.
Clapton - he's interesting - also not the best specimen of healthy living... must've pickled his brain - he's devoid of common sense.

thankyouverymuch - i'll continue to stream! there are ways to support the clubs that you like - buy the merchandise, bought my paver at the Leaf! Tips is doing live streams to benefit the club & employees!

it's just unbelievable to look at the political reaction of the virus... I read an interesting post last night from the Mayor of St. Petersburg, FL. in which he stated that the amount of people that have died in the US from Covid is equal to the population of the City of St. Petersburg.

The midwest is having a nearly 80% positivity rate... just so looking forward to that group of people coming home. SMH

Speaking of Van, here's a humorous and historical recollection from John Densmore who played with another Morrison........

Sobering survey of 700 epidemiologists here. Percentage attending a concert, play or sporting event in last 30 days: 2%.

I saw that, but they maybe didn't ask the right question? For many people, there are no concerts, plays, or sporting events to attend, so we don't know how many of them would have attended had they had that option. I suspect for something like a play, the answer would be close to 0%, but for a sporting event, especially outdoor and distanced, maybe some of them would be comfortable?
