  • Fest Gate Hours - Any thoughts?

I saw someone post that they saw a comment on Twitter that due to shorter days in October, JF will wrap each day around 6pm instead of the normal 7-ish. If that is the case will they open the gates earlier to accommodate the time shift? Any thoughts? I would dig a 10am to 6pm schedule.

I guess shorter days means longer nights

Offbeat says "Hours for the festival have been reduced by one hour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m."

Restaurants around town (including the one I work at) will be happy with the 6pm end time as festers can go out to eat earlier. They are always waiting for the later rush during Jazz Fest and many stay open an out later to get everyone in.

Great point. More time for a good meal in between Fest and night shows.

Any hints when y'all might reopen?

Zasu in Mid City will be reopening the first or second week of September. For a while now it's just been private parties and Sat to-go dinners and asst items. Nothing going on in July as she is closing for renovations and vacations. Not sure about August.

Make sure to ask for me, James if you come by. I don't believe we have ever actually met before.

Will do. But we should do a Mid-City Threadhead get together sometime this summer...

I'm in although I will be out of town for 2 weeks or so.

Well, at least they raised the price on the brass pass to compensate for the shorter hours and reduction in days.

                      Cheers.

The earlier closing is presumably because the sun sets earlier in October than in April/May.

Hoping to get back in. Not feeling poorly like the last time I was in with my son. Look forward to an excellent meal and your impeccable service!

I’m happy about the early closing. My internal clock is always ready to leave fest before the day’s closer is over- not sure if it’s my clock telling me it’s time for rest and dinner, quiet time for what but I think this slightly earlier closing will agree with me quite well.
