At this point, though, it is fingers crossed it happens. The Saenger was open with a Broadway show over the weekend, my concern is more the TTB touring party but I would expect they have insisted all precautions be taken by band members before they hit the road in a couple of buses.
My wife and I have broadway series tickets for the Saenger, though I skipped Hadestown this week for Gros at the Broadside. I'm told that one way they have pulled off the broadway series is they don't screw around ---- masks are mandatory DURING the performance and from what i hear they try to enforce it. safe maybe., but the whole concept actually bums me out a bit --- how does one fully relax as needed to truly enjoy while wearing a mask to ensure you don't breath in a contagious disease? Agree though: the real danger is how do you spend a night in Shreveport playing in a 12-person rock and soul band and NOT catch Covid???

I was wondering the same thing. I've checked every site I could think of. Looks like no opener. If they do what they usually do, it's a one hour set (prob starting at 8), a 30 min break and then another 90 min set. I too like when it's just them unless there is an opener I really like. (such as Leon or Jorma etc)

And there is a warmup band in Shreveport.

The price is right for the show in Shreveport, but I am still on the fence? Only concern with Covid is does it cancel an hour before the show?

The Municipal is a historic venue and Gregg played there on his final tour

As much as I hate wearing a mask like everyone else it doesn't bother me as much sitting or standing in one place in normal temperatures compared to working with one on in a sometimes hot restaurant which drives me crazy!

Advertising "special guests" will sell more tickets, but often leads to disappointment to those who bought them. Hope you get lucky. If I was Derek or Susan, I'd be resting in my hotel after a long show at the Saenger. Unless the booger sugar is along for the ride.

We shall see. He does seem to know a lot of local musicians who could be the guests. booger sugar? Haha.

Derek was a monster when I saw him at Lynagh's years before he was legal in a bar. Susan had her rabid fans screaming for the first Indy Jazz Fest. I played dumb with the young ladies, came natural, turning me on during the show. Was nothin' but a partay, and we did it up in style! Flashback!

Typical great TTB show last night, entire band was on fire. No real surprises except former drummer JJ Johnson joining them for a song. Guilded Splinters opened the 2nd set which was a real highlight. Most people stood up for the entire show which not even close to a sellout. We were up front in row A(behind the first 3 rows which are blocked off), plenty of room to dance. Wish I could go back tonight.

Went to show at The Toulouse afterwards. Some TTB members played with Isaac Eady and his band but no Derek or Susan. Not a lot of people there.

Great show indeed. Very weird. Most people DID stand and dance. Unlike last TTB gig at Saenger, security was invisible. No one was asked to get out of the aisle. More to my disliking, no one was asked to keep a mask on (my guesstimate was a solid 90% unmasked). This was weird to me as I hear they are incredibly strict at the Broadway shows. ANd before you make a demographics joke, let me assure you that the TTB crowd is every bit as old as the broadway series crowd
Walk on Guilded Splinters was staggering, as was just about every note that Trucks boy played. (That Did It was something else too). He is just astonishing. Every single time.
I saw jjazz just put up the setlist, but here's a short article with setlist and audience tape.

Tedeschi Trucks Band's two-night opener in New Orleans saw a sit-in from former drummer J.J. Johnson on a cover from NOLA legend Allen Toussaint.

Wish I had been there with you my friend. Listened to their Layla Album yesterday. Nice. All brought back memories, especially the first time they played together at Jazzfest. I would be at Spleaf tonight if in town. Joe and Jason riding high with success of recent album. Hope to see you in the Spring!
