I love it. For as much as I've enjoyed each of these musicians I never thought I'd see them as the line up, either as the proceeding acts or as a jam band. Just a really incongruous imho group of artists. Now I want to go.

Helen and Jason have played together several times--usually under the auspices of Scatterjazz (who books shows at the Broadside and previously at the SideBar) and most recently at the Instigation Festival with Mars Williams. And it is likely both have played with Big Sam in some context or other.

yes, I'm imagining that everyone has played with everyone at some point. I remember the first time I started recognizing the players and realizing that everyone was basically in about five different bands.

I believe there was an "other instruments orchestra": that played some time ago-- This included people who had won or placed in the "other instruments" category of OffBeat's Best of the Beat Awards. Jason and Helen were in that, and I think Beth Patterson on bouzouki.
