    • Visit the music venue dedicated wholly to the soul of New Orleans at Ace Hotel. Open late night with near nightly events with a full bar and snacks.

            • Disappointed there isn't anything 1st Thursday at LMF. That was always official kick-off day for us.

The Church at Hotel Peter and Paul

Join Kristin Diable for a magical night of music with Radio Bird String Quartet (members of the LA Philharmonic Orchestra) reimagining her songs in cinematic string format within the walls of the gorgeous decommissioned Catholic church at Hotel Peter and Paul. Cash bar in church (don't you love New Orleans?). Excellent restaurant at Hotel Peter and Paul for dinner before or after the show.  More on the night from KD: "Hi Friends: For the past 10 years, I’ve hosted an annual house concert at my home around our Jazz Fest performance in New Orleans. It’s been a way to connect with each other and share the songs in a much more personal way, outside of our bigger band festival show on the fairgrounds. This year will be our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY playing the Jazz Fest!  After living through a pandemic, with so much of our usual connection not possible in our lives, this tradition and milestone is one I'm taking in with extra gratitude. The last few years have changed a lot of how we go about doing things. This year, I decided to adapt the house show into something equally as special, but different.  We’re going to church.  Joined by Radio Bird String Quartet (from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra), we will rally cinematic reimaginings of familiar tunes and new ones yet to be released.  The church is filled with history, spirit and resonance that only centuries of living can do a space.  Can’t wait to join you to be a part of that living history.  Music has always been my favorite way of communion, and I’m so grateful we get to share these moments together again after such a long time apart.  Love,  KD"

                    • Toulouse Theatre presents John Medeski's Mad Skillet LIVE in concert on Friday, April 29 2022.
                      Age Limit: 21+
                      Doors Open: 10:30 PM
                      Show Begins: 11:30 PM

Mad Skillet was born of a late-night show in New Orleans, LA during Jazz Fest 2015. It came out kicking and screaming, laughing and wailing, laying down a deep New Orleans groove steeped in jazz, blues, psychedelic rock, and R&B.
Band members are leader, keyboardist John Medeski (Medeski Martin & Wood, The Word), Grammy-nominated guitarist/bandleader Will Bernard (Medicine Hat, Party Hats), New Orleans native sousaphone player Kirk Joseph (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Backyard Groove ), and drummer Terence Higgins (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Ani DiFranco) also a New Orleans native.

A few good ones but unfortunately nothing like the lineups they've had in the past and now they charge for most shows.

I guess I gotta get my azz outta bed to see Shannon McNally who had one of my favorite country albums from this past year, "The Waylon Sessions". Can't make it to see her at Tip's with Anders or at the fest.

I was hoping they'd drop some bombs on us, but they turned out to be duds. Oh well.

Don't sleep on Courtney Bryan, not the usual thing in what the festival environment has become.
