  • JAZZ FEST @ NIGHT 2022 / The Grids!

I am too impatient to wait for Neen's nearly world infamous grids (www.jazzfestgrids.com) so I thought I'd start a thread to discuss night shows for fest, if you'll be so kind to indulge a lowly Junior Member :-) I'll start:

5/5/22 @ Fillmore New Orleans: Karl Denson's Tiny Universe A Diesel Insane. The music of David Bowie.

Like that KDTU show, a bunch of other shows originally planned for October Jazzfest were rescheduled for Fest '22.

Check the websites for the theaters (Saenger, Orpheum, Civic, Joy) and the big clubs (Tips, Fillmore, Howlin' Wolf, Republic) and you'll likely find a dozen or more fest listings.

Well, the Radiators show rescheduled from last Spring to October did take place, and I'm hoping for another in '22! Wednesday between, day after Patry!?

Saenger has had Primus: A Tribute to Kings on the schedule for 4/27 and Shorty's throwdown on 4/30. They just now added Christone Kingfish Ingram on 4/28.

venue presale on Thursday with 'distance' as code. Looks like an artist presale happening now.

That was one that was originally in October. But I thought Turkuaz disbanded last month?

I wouldn't count on this show happening. 7 members left the band as Swag indicated. Perhaps the remaining 2 members are holding out to reform the band in time for this show?

Good call on scouring the individual sites Swag. I found a couple good shows at Tips:

                    May 1 (late) Greyboy Allstars
                    May 6 (9p) The Word

And yeah, Turquaz is no longer.

Interesting. It's still on the Joy site. I was really looking forward to seeing this one. Oh well.

Seven of nine members of Turkuaz, in addition to the band's FOH engineer, have announced their departure from the group.

They just added the Kingfisher to Byron Bay BluesFest at Easter time next year, so with luck he and I will be well travelled by the time we get to JazzFest.

I am sure that after the musc-starved masses finish reading that overwhelming bounty of timeless, local, homegrown Crescent City talent, NOLA's hotel rates have just tripled...
