Those shows were incredibly good. Sadly though, Ian Hunter has since retired. Wasn't strictly an age related thing, but tinnitus.

Black Pumas are too small for that slot

I agree- the Saturday big stage closer needs to be BIG. I'm in favor of many of the big draw suggestions up thread. Except, of course, anything involving the Rolling Stones and would LOVE to avoid that fiasco ever again. I'm looking for someone who I can swing by for a few songs after Lynn Drury. Pearl Jam, DMB, Wilco, TTB - whatever.

As far as 'old guys' goes, Todd Rundgren has a gaping Jazzfest size hole in his current touring schedule.
He's touring with Darryl Hall, which 'could' make the Hall and Oates thing happen as well, since Oates is booked at Chickie....

Actually, he was in the studio recording new songs yesterday. I don't think he is at a point where he is willing to schedule shows. Hopefully he will be able to.

Really good to hear. Even if he doesn't play live, I'd be happy with a new album.

                    • I just saw a banner ad for Aerosmith and see they are starting a Las Vegas residency in June.

                            • Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

My money is on Red Hot Chili Peppers to fill the slot. A few points in their favor:

                              1. They have a new album coming out tomorrow (4/1)
                              2. Their touring schedule doesn't kick off until June.
                              3. They have a North American tour in the late summer/early fall, but it doesn't come anywhere near NOLA. Closest they get is Nashville or Arlington.
                              4. They actually played the same first Sunday closing set back in 2016, and crushed it IMO. Had a full on jam sesh with George Porter & co, it was great. (This was the same weekend that Pearl Jam played, but I thought RHCP was much better)

Also, they're probably the most comparable band in terms of BNA size to Foo Fighters, that's still active and doesn't have any obvious conflict. As much as I'm really sad FF aren't gonna make it (#RIPTaylor), I think RHCP would be an excellent fill-in.

.....with the drum tech taking over for Joey Kramer because he is on "temporary leave"
