As Marc said to me last night, we'll probably see Nikki Bluhm once a day everyday even if neither of us goes to her showcase. She's everywhere at Americanafest.

I just wrapped up my remote work-day and am headed to the Blue Room for an hour or so of music from bands and artists that I've never heard of. Then we'll go to the FOMO program before Chuck Mead- an absolute can't miss for Kris and I. Then we'll hit Robert's for the Americana Awards show afterparty.

Thank You So Much For Posting!

You might have just sold me a Conference Pass for next year so I can score a ticket for the Honors & Awards show.
3.5 hours of great music! Will watch the last 2 hours later.

              Once again, Thanks For Posting!

If you have a spare 3.5 hours then I recommend watching. If not try to watch Brandi Carlile presenting an award for the Indio Girls at 2:53.

              Presenting awards but not playing:

              Molly Tuttle
              Robert Plant
              Sarah Jarosz
              Haynes Carll
              Allison Moorer
              others

              Performing:

              Brandi Carlile
Lyle Lovett covering Little Feat Willin
              Buddy Miller
              Lucinda Williams
              Allison Russell
              Adia Victoria
              War & Treaty
              Chris Isaac
              Lukas Nelson
              McCrary Sisters
              Fairfield Four (Gospel!)
              Milk Carton Kids
              James McMurtry
              JP Harris
              Sierra Ferrell
              Morgan Wade
              others

I will do everything in my power to be in that room next year.

Yeah, was a great show. They were overrunning so I had to leave at 9-30 to catch the great Chuck Mead (and then the astonishing Joshua Ray Walker) so I never found out whether Mr Strings was there to receive his award.

B.t.w. you don't need a convention pass to get a ticket for the awards show. For the last few years they open up seats to general public about 3 or 4 weeks prior.

We'll talk tactics in due course!

I enjoyed a majority of it but thought that some awards should have gone to other artists. I had to skip through some of it, just not a fan of Morgan Wade or Brandi Carlile or acceptance speeches in general. Lucinda unfortunately does not look fully recovered from her health issues. Glad some of my faves Sierra Ferrell, Adia Victoria, Allison Russell, James McMurtry plus Buddy Miller got their due. I still have no idea what is Americana and what it is not. It almost seems like a club that they let some people into and others they do not. So bluegrass is but country is not? So gospel is but soul or blues is not?

WMOT radio (my other streaming station) is running a tasty live stream from Americana Fest this week. Brennen Leigh just knockin' my socks off with Asleep at the Wheel this morning - check the archive!

I haven't seen confirmed dates for next year, but it's extremely unlikely that I will be able to make it. I will definitely try to get to Bristol TN/VA though. Old Settlers also very much on the radar for next April.
But back to A'fest. Perhaps the best thing about this week in Nashville is the unofficial events that spring up.
This afternoon's Mojo Nixon Sirius XM will be just epic!

Brandi Carlile asked the same question.

                          And I quote her.

Hey Marc, I have an extra tent/sleeping bag if you need to borrow it for Old Settlers.

Does the regular festival pass get you into Ryman for Nitty Gritty Dirt Band?

That is true for every awards show.

Thanks Fred, but like Duende, camping just ain't for me. I'll likely be in Lockhart.
we can discuss logistics nearer the date.

Re the Nitty Gritty Ryman show, that one was always advertised as a stand alone show, outside of the Fest events.
