AmericanaFest 2022?

Planning to attend AmericanaFest this year for the first time. In fact, first time visiting Nashville, too. Planning our days has been very challenging since the various festival clubs and venues are spaced throughout town, and I'm not sure how easy it will be to get timely rideshares since we won't have a car. Seems like you need to pick a "must do" for your evening show, get there early, and whatever else you can fit in before or after is gravy.

Among the acts I've not seen before Molly Tuttle and Sarah Shook & The Disarmers are musts for me. The Johhny Cash Museum, too.

Any help and advice about AmericanaFest and Nashville in general would be greatly appreciated. We'll be there Tuesday through Sunday.

I've not actually been to the fest, but I do know lots of info on Nashville. Traffic is horrible, but if it's like it was before the pandemic, the fest folks offer a shuttle to many of the clubs. My e-mail is (my bored name) at hotmail dot com.

Hey Steeleye- I'll be there the same days. This is our fourth or fifth Americanafest and we really love it. So, good choice! I'm not the best with board names and then real life names, but it would be great to say hello if we're able to figure it out! CanineHorror will be there as well. I do think it is wise to pick an area to stick to each night. The rideshare situation was terrible last year but I've heard that there are more drivers this year, so that may change. The good news is that you really can't go wrong- its just an outstanding festival and one that rewards rolling with it. I organize the schedule into East Nashville, SoBro/Broadway, and the Vandy area. That helps narrow things. You can get a rough idea of expected turn out for a showcase by seeing how many people have added to their schedule on the app. The venues in SoBro are walkable. You can walk from basement East to the 5 Spot, but the other East venues require transportation. The Vandy venues are pretty spread out but I *think* you might be able to walk from the Analog Lounge to Exit/In. Not positive.

My favorite daytime events are the Pure Memphis Happy Hour and the Forth Worth program at TN Brewworks - both feature great music that I might not catch otherwise. I also like that they have good freebies like Memphis and Forth Worth swag, treats etc. I also like the California Country Show at Acme Feed and Seed- just be aware that some of the daytime events are open to the public and fill up. I think I will try to catch some of the CA Country Show before walking down to Robert's for the Atomic Music Group program. That's one that will be packed. I also love Under The Sun, Saturday afternoon at the rooftop pool at the Westin. We also had a lot of fun at the FOMO party at Brooklyn Bowl last year -novelty appeal: the venue opens up onto the field that the Nashville Sound play on and they'll be a home game that night.

I still haven't made it to either, NashVegas or AmericanaFest. But I have an ever-growing list of who'd I stalk if I did! I'd go see Webb Wilder and Jack Pearson every day of the week and twice on Sunday. If you don't get out much, or maybe watch a lot of Billy Strings videos, check Trey Hensley with Rob Ickes (Well, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two guitar pickers in Nashville, and they can pick more notes than the number of ants on a Tennessee ant hill). And speakin' of... Guthrie Trapp plays Monday nights at The Underdog - just jaw-dropping talent. Otherwise, I'd love to see any/everyone on that line-up list. Have a great festival!

We love Americanafest--but couldn't make it this year . Sorry we will not see you, Steeleye (& Fich & Canine). Fichadelphia has lots of good advice. You can move between different parts of town, but It's best to pick several sets in each area so you don't miss too much music. Regarding the Vandy area: There are also shows in Centennial Park, and Exit Inn is walkable from there.

Don't miss the daytime events! Many of them have free food and drinks and great music. The shows that WMOT puts on during the day are great, but they are far away from downtown.

In regard to music, I am really interested in the following, but not sure who I will be able to catch, schedule wise.

Melissa Carper - obsessed with her recent album. I think I'll be able to see her with Brennan Leigh and Kelly Willis at the Atomic Music Group party at Roberts, but I might be able to catch her showcase as well.

I have yet so see her live but have been enjoying that Lilli Lewis record Americana quite a bit lately. She’s playing broadside soon but part of what I think is a quite pricey benefit. I may still make it just to see her live show.
