I'm sure many vendors would not be in favor of it. No need to fix what ain't broken.
The Fest has no business knowing what an artist sells at the Fest. If they were taking a %, then yes. Not the way it is now. The only people I have to report my income to is the taxman and my wife!!!

The N.O. Jazz and 'Heritage' Festival should honor the heritage of the Fest itself ( non musical ). Cost increases in line with inflation. Less VIP and user friendly to all demographics.
Cost for me and my wife to spend a day at the Fairgrounds is up to around $300 now and it seems I spend half the day walking between stages or in a line somewhere. I think I did my entire Fest for that back in 92 and that included my hotel, tickets and spending !!!

        Buzzkill rant over.....

I always tip in cash. I may use a credit card for the purchase/service, but I use cash for the tip.

Excitement is building MG! Teetertotter Fest is a happening. Dancing in the street, honoring the cultural heritage of New Orleans. No lines, no rules, no cover, just a spoonful of joy.

If you were not just a dumbass from the "windy city" and were smart and had invested your savings in a Silicone Valley Bank, from California, then you could afford all of the price hikes and enjoyed all of the pleasures that being a "vip" bring. Always trust California.

              Rant over!

Lots of tweaking about something that doesn’t warrant the tweak. Whether you are paying $13 in cash or card for a Cochon or a soft shell shouldn’t matter. It’s Jazzfest. They could charge me in wampum and I’d figure it out and still pay!

                Getmetojazzfest!!!

                  Completely agree.

Plus everyone should be allowed to use cash if they wish to end of story.

It is my experience, that is only be greed from venues, promoters, stadiums etc that makes them stop taking cash, or to force vendors from taking it.

I am yet to hear a sensible and or logical reason, as to why cash is rejected.

And dont forget Big Brother is always watching.

A few bars in Chicagoland instituted a no cash policy. While they used Covid for an excuse the real reason was to stop panhandlers from coming in with a pocket full of change.

That will be me. Much prefer to use a card for purchases. Easier to track and I can earn things for it. For something like this, tips will be in cash (as opposed to a restaurant, for example, where it goes on the card).

                      Cheers.

Cash OR a card would be a happy medium but just cards to me is just plain wrong anywhere for anything. I would still go to the fest but I'd definitely spend less money as I like bringing only the amount of cash I wish to spend.

I'm at SXSW now and a lot of events here are cashless. If you have a chipped card tapping is easier than sliding, and you have a few % tip options to add - no signing. Even a few breweries here have gone cashless. My wife got a big stripper-stack of one's to dole out rather than sticking single-day servers with the unenviable task of somehow collecting their tips later (how would it work, anyway, other than an electronic transfer like Venmo?).

lol - I have a zipper top bag of ones that I dip into before going out. Just dipped into it before the Bruuuuuuce show last night so that I could tip my Wells Fargo Center bartenders well in cash.

Just another validation of my decision to stop going out to the Fairgrounds

A cashless system contributes to discrimination and oppression.
The NAACP calls on Congress to pass legislation that would ban cashless retail stores throughout the country, essentially requiring these essential neighborhood businesses to accept cash.
