I sent the following to my "krewe" on Feb. 3 on a day when the temp here on Cape Cod was five below zero...

Thursday, May 4 looks incredibly strong. Friday running a hot second. As in years past, Saturday the weakest of the four, but still pretty damn great. Sunday some great potential closing acts, though I do miss Nevilles doing that job so expertly. A few of my faves by day…

May 4: Santana, Buddy Guy, Hot 8 Brass, Rockin Dopsie, (my guess is these first four may be playing at the same time on different stages), John Mooney, Astral Project, Corey Ledet, Michael Doucet.

May 5: Irma Thomas, Soul Rebels, Marcia Ball, CJ Chenier, Wayne Toups (again, guessing these 5 may be in conflict), Klezmer Allstars, Buckwheat Zydeco.

May 6: Anders Osborne, George Porter, BeauSoleil (conflicts here), Chubby Carrier, Feufollet, Guitar Slim, Jr., Julio y Cesar.

May 7: Trombone Shorty (my guess to be the big closing act at Acura stage), Galactic, Radiators (closers at Gentilly?), Zigaboo Funk Revue (closer in Blues Tent or Congo Square?), Kermit Ruffins, Nathan & Zydeco Cha Chas, New Birth Brass.

And great gospel all day every day.

So take that you nasty 5-below Cape weather. ;-)

Second weekend focus on something new, something old: Mahmoud Chouki, H.E.R., Larkin Poe, Joy Clark, Los Guiros ( all new to me), and then Loose Cattle (led by a high school classmate), John Hiatt, Keb Mo, Flatlanders, Herbie Hancock, Santana, Buddy Guy (old “friends” that I should see again). Then, of course, all the other perennial favorites.
