I'd like to suggest that every food vendor sells water, my drink of choice other than one Frozen Latte each day.
Waiting in a food and then water lines is a distraction.
Better yet.. sell water tokens in advance for grab and go.

The water bottle refill stations have very short lines, if any at all. We've had no problem getting water quickly and not using a bunch of plastic bottles as an added bonus.

      Cheers.

Shantytown Underground was one of my favorite sets of the entire festival and I caught it start to finish. Can't wait to hear that
I absolutely loved this band. I wish I was there for the entire set. I especially loved the Lynn Drury numbers. Is this a regular band? I purchased the live cd.

I don’t know the details on that full of a band but when I talked to Lynn last week she told me that she’s going to be a part of whatever they do going forward. I hope we get to see them again soon!

Second weekend review: I went back home for the intervening days after the first weekend, as I had to work, and immediately became rather sick (not COVID fortunately); had to cancel second weekend (too late to cancel hotel). Most depressing second weekend ever.

I know I've seen them. I think it was in the fall a couple years ago. At Broadside maybe.

                Shantytown (Papa Mali) was great.

Santana- i was going to see the 2nd half of the show, but since i was at Walter Washington tribute i boogied over there. To this day I get chills when I watch that opening from Woodstock and to see Santana merge that into the live Soul Sacrifice brought me to tears,as my uncle who passed 3 years ago and was at Woodstock turned me onto him.

Walter wolfman Washington tribute- so many local Legends coming out to pay tribute it was just a fun time remembering and getting down.

Anders Osborne- solid set danced wildly in a very uncrowded mainstage.

Jon Batiste- blew me away. He must have played 4-5 different instruments. It was like a church revival

Dee Dee Bridgewater- scatted, sung and shimmied her way around stage and the dress that she wore swayed w the rhythm. I wish I had taken a video of it because it just was captivating as was she

What no love for Frankie Beverly and Maze? The crowd ambiance is a joy to behold at his closing show. He's been doing it since 2008 I believe. People just enjoying him and themselves.

I wasn't there but apparently he's retiring and the band is carrying on with a new vocalist and a clumsy name:

Besides the cashless issue, everything else seemed exactly the same as last year.

Food lines were shorter after that first day although there seemed to less people there on the other 3 days I went. We just ate early and late, never waited for anything more than a minute or two.

First fest I never bought a single beer or froz drink. I doubt I ever will again. $9.50 for an Amber plus tip is absurd plus Mango/Guava Tequila Lemonade just tastes better.

Glad I opted for the pre-paid card, did not even have to bring my wallet after loading the card on day 1, just one card.

I went on Fri and Sun, highlights for me included: Alynda Segura, La Raíz Bomba -Mayagüezana (and pretty much anyone who played in the Cultural Pavillion) Sue Foley, Charlie Gabriel and Friends, The Flatlanders (interview and set), Continental Drifters, Molly Tuttle, Marcus King, The Radiators, Tom Jones, Herbie Hancock and Jon Batiste who put on one of the best sets ever!

Forgot to mention I saw and spoke with Festy Dave at Shorty Fest. For newbies, FD works for the JazzFest and used to kind of oversee this space. Now swag does that and FD pops in on occasion.

Hopefully Swag gets paid better as he does a far superior job.

Well, Festy does have a couple of other responsibilities keeping him busy.
