Is the purple one the first shirt from 1981? I got it a few years ago from WWOZ cheap ($20?). Story I heard was someone found boxes of new old stock in their garage.
The other one is from 1986. I usually see one or two but did not find one this year (first weekend). A few weeks after the '86 Fest Paul Shaffer wore one on Late Night w/ David Letterman. It prompted me to write my first View Mail letter. After that I kept writing whatever came to mind and after about 20 tries they did one of my letters.

The purple one is my favorite. If anyone has a small or medium kicking around that they’d like to unload, send me a message.Comment

The sentence that just leapt out at me was...."Lisa Alexis, the director of the Office of Cultural Economy". Office of Cultural Economy? WTF? New Orleans cannot get the pot holes repaired in the streets just to use one example of civic needs going by the wayside but there is enough cash within the budget to fund an Office of Cultural Economy? Really?
I did enjoy the article however. Thanks for sharing. I also agree with festbabe regarding rayon.Comment

I am with you on Rayon, I am an all Cotton person if possible, otherwise a small percentage helps.Comment

I don't know anyone who would. The NYT tag line "The colorful prints of BayouWear, born at a New Orleans jazz festival, reflect the city itself" is ridiculous." Maybe if the they could work potholes, extreme income inequality, racism, gun violence, inertia, and irony into the designs . . .Comment
